"Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth" (John 12:35).

The Bible teaches what we might call spiritual opportunity.  This is a season, or even a moment, when God sets before us truth, and our future hinges upon what how we respond to it.  The whole human race has fallen into an estate of sin and alienation from God.  Furthermore, the Scriptures teach that our condition is aggravated by great blindness to spiritual matters and to our eternal peril.

When Jesus came to Earth about 2000 years ago, a great beam of light shone upon men.  He is the light of the world.  This light penetrated the darkness and gave a brilliant season of opportunity to men who had been walking in darkness.  The One who is the very Truth Himself encountered and confronted darkness wherever He went.  It is a study in itself to read of His life and see the various responses to that light.  "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil" (John 3:19).  Light can reveal uncomfortable facts.  Light is not always welcome.
The same issues are before us today when the the Word of God is preached.  (The darkness has not improved by technology - but grown worse).  Though Jesus Christ has returned to heaven, the truth of man's need of salvation from sin through His sacrificial death and His resurrection still illuminates the darkness and offers eternal life.
There needs to be a sober reflection on what Jesus said in our opening text in John 12:35.  Having the light is not an entitlement, but an opportunity whose season can end at any time.  In view of the seriousness of the issue, that God sends light to guide a soul to the safety of heaven, it should be unthinkable that anyone would be careless and lapse back into a darkness that has no hope for all eternity.  Without God's light we cannot find the way.
Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth

Sometime opportunity knocks our door but we don't take it seriously and destroy our future. Never miss your opportunity and try your best to beware of it because you will not get chance again and again.
