Some are offended that anyone should see a connection between a global increase in horrific disasters and Bible prophecies that speak of a global increase in horrific disasters. While it may be true that Bible truth is abused by some religious scam artists for personal profit, it should not prevent sober minded persons from inquiring into its real significance.
First, events today are a reflection of where the world is at morally and spiritually. Sin is shown in Scripture to be a weight on planet earth that it cannot bear. The first disobedience by our father Adam changed our home from a perfect paradise to a world of thorns, thistles, suffering, and death.
Israel too learned that sin turned their Land of Promise into a land of misery and terror. They learned the sinfulness of sin by experiencing invasions, famines, plagues, and other curses upon their homeland.
Second, we are being given today an orientation in God's prophetic program. Prophecy teaches us that as we see the things of the last days begin to take shape around us we should expect the soon arrival of the finale. The cymbals of God's displeasure will soon rise to crescendo. We are taught to understand the scattered disasters of the end of this age as a foretaste of a rapidly approaching time of terrible global troubling. This is God's flashing YOU ARE HERE sign.
The Lord Jesus fulfilled many prophecies when He was born of a virgin and went on ultimately to die as a sacrifice for our sins. He also literally fulfilled prophecies by His resurrection and ascension to heaven, where He remains in glory to this day.
The centre of remaining prophecy is about His return to establish a glorious kingdom on this planet. In between those comings is the present age of opportunity to respond to the offer of salvation and share in His glory. Before that, comes the time of troubling that will be God's answer to a rebellious world in rejection of His chosen King. The "new world order" being erected all around us today is a substitute for God's plan which denies Jesus Christ His place on the throne. This is why God must shake the earth.
