"That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up" (Daniel 3:5)
The Bible records the greatest of all conflicts in the story of human life, who will receive the worship of men.  According to God's Word there is only one all-wise, all-powerful, all-loving infinitely pure and holy Being worthy of this worship, man's Creator - the Eternal God of the Bible.
The conflict actually began when Lucifer, the most beautiful and perfect of the Lord's creatures, an incredibly powerful and intelligent angel coveted God's place.  This one we know as Satan, or the devil, turned to planet earth as the theatre of operations for his campaign to dethrone God.  His evil plan was to seduce those beings God had made in His image and placed there, mankind.  Satan's plan was to turn their worship to himself.
Phase one of the devil's plan was to deceive Adam into disobeying God's command, and thereby plunge him (and all the human race that he was the father of) into a fallen, sinful estate alienated from the one true God ("dead in trespasses and sin" - Ephesians 2:1).
Yet, despite Satan's success initially, the Bible also tells us that God overcame the impossible when He made a way back to Himself through His eternal plan of redemption worked out by His Only Begotten Son.  The Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sins by His own substitutionary sacrificial death.  As the resurrected Lord, He invites all men everywhere to turn in repentance from sin and self-righteousness and receive Him individually by a personal whole hearted faith.
Today the motions afoot for a one-world religious system without Christ hasten the world toward the judgments of God recorded in the Book of the Revelation.  Yet still the door is open to those with ears to hear that Christ is real and salvation is within the reach of all who will believe in Jesus Christ.
